Health Note Integrates Pre-Visit Interviews Into Ambient Voice Solution

As a major differentiator from other AI-based ambient voice scribes, Health Note integrates pre-visit information into the note, shortening visits sometimes for 30 minutes.

Pre-visit information is obtained from patients by sending them a text message several days before they show up for their visit. The information gathered is far more detailed and sophisticated than a standard intake, because it asks many questions a doctor would normally ask at the start of the visit.

Through this pre-visit documentation, Health Note might write up to 90% of the doctor’s note, according to Dr. Joshua Reischer, Co-Founder & CEO. The information typically includes the history of the present illness, a review of systems, demographics, social and family history, allergies, and more.

Some doctors also use Health Note for standard ambient voice recording without the pre-visit information gathering, according to Reischer.

Health Note serves a wide variety of specialities, including surgery and behavioral health. The service is found most often in primary care, pediatrics, orthopedics, women’s health, and neurology. Specialties have different needs, so templates are supported and are offered out-of-the-box for many specialties.

The physician can also click a button to customize notes with their preferred styles. Setting up a customized template takes less than 3 minutes

Their intake service is integrated fully with Epic, athenahealth, Veradigm, covering every field of those EHRs. They are working on integrating for their prescribing product, which will offer limited (“fast’) integration as well as deeper integration for the three supported EHRs as well as web-based EHRs.

Reischer has found that ambient voice recording solutions have improved tremendously in the past six months. The most important aspect of transcription accuracy is placement of the microphone. With Health Note, most physicians start with it on their mobile device, but usually move to using it on a desktop.
