Personalization, Patient Centricity, and Cost Savings with Celebrus
Effective patient engagement–which is fundamental to value-based care–is based on gathering all available information about each person in a privacy-respecting manner. Celebrus has been helping organizations in finance and retail build profiles of their clients for more than 25 years: “small p personalization,” according to Maigari Jinkiri, VP of Business Development. In this video, Jinkiri explains how to develop patient profiles cost-effectively in healthcare and use them for engagement, improved outcomes, and “costs you can take out of the business.”
Jinkiri speaks repeatedly of payers and providers who are “flying blind” when trying to engage patients. For instance, it’s not hard for an organization to track what a visitor is searching for on their web site, but few can use the data obtained to personalize the site for a subsequent visit, much less feed that data into text messages or other forms of communication.
Celebrus can track and integrate data from multiple sources ranging from the web site and portal to kiosks. That includes data behind authenticated sources with PHI like MyChart for example. This allows them to supply useful insights in a private manner to call center agents, initiatives such as patient education, and for value based care. They can determine patient identities even from anonymous sessions such as web site visits. These interactions are a “digital front door” that brings a patient into the system.
The gold standard for a patient profile, Jinkiri says, is “journey mapping,” which creates different paths for what the design and marketing fields calls personas. Jinkiri advises thinking both about the current journey and an ideal journey for a patient who is pregnant, gets cancer, or has some other condition requiring sustained care.
Journey mapping can be expensive because it requires cross-team cooperation, along with legal consultation to ensure privacy protections. Celebrus provides other ways to develop profiles as well.
Jinkiri speaks about “breadcrumbs,” which are points in the patient journey such as asking them whether they’re taking their medication. The data obtained online can be combined in “buckets,” which let the site know whether the patient has responded and how well they’re complying with the medication. Age can be taken into account, such as knowing when to recommend a colonoscopy.
